About GRT Counseling, Inc.

My emphasis is on long-term counseling for those seeking deep insight into core patterns, leading to healing and transformative growth.

Our Counseling Work Emphasizes the Following Pillars:

Building a strong and secure professional therapeutic relationship. This will be the bedrock upon which further components rest.  This solid and sturdy foundation will be created and nourished by emphasizing honesty, compassionate understanding, grace, and mutual respect.  It is this core relationship that will create enough safety for the individual to explore honestly and openly himself/herself seeking to identify those core parts and repeating patterns that are contributing to his/her psychological distress.

Becoming more self-aware.  It will be difficult, if not impossible, to do real core work without a more accurate and complete understanding of your true self.  This will require developing an internal curiosity interested in exploring more and more parts of the self.  It will also require a slower pace which will be necessary to truly reflect upon and sit with lesser-known aspects of self.  If a part of yourself is really present being unaware of it does not necessarily help you tend to it.

Examining and analyzing newly found core parts and patterns of self.  This component will emphasize a deeper understanding and analysis to ascertain how these core parts contribute to your health or distress.  You will work to develop more ability to hold, and more appreciation of, complexity within yourself and within your relationships.

Grappling with healing past wounds and resolving unresolved internal conflicts.  Sometimes past hurtful experiences can create wounds deeply rooted inside us.  These old hurts can consistently resurface causing us to re-experience the past hurt in a constant current-day loop.  This chronic loop may be contributing to present-day distress.  In addition, leaving important internal conflicts unresolved can create a bouncing back and forth contributing to chronic confusion, fatigue, and a feeling of being stuck.

Reflecting on healthier alternatives to replace the parts that have become damaging and obsolete with new healthy options that more closely fit your true aspirations of self.

Creating new transformative experiences outside the therapy room.  This is an essential developmental step in your journey.  It will act as a bridge from the safety of the counseling office to the complexities in your real life.  By courageously entering into new experiences in your life, you will create a rich opportunity to learn, assess, and more deeply root your new changes.  This step will require an internal development of wisdom and courage, but it will also build the internal confidence that you have what you need.

Christian Counseling

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, the State Statutes mandate me not to impose my values onto a client.  I will always honor this Statute.  I believe your counseling work is about what you value, not what I value.  However, if one of your values is your Christian faith and you desire your faith to be any part of your counseling work, then I will join you in your value system.  To be equipped for this honored work, I have studied the Integration of Psychology and Christianity at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School.  Therefore, if you are looking for a Professional Christian Counselor who will respect your faith and values and is educated on integrating your faith with your counseling work, then GRT Counseling may be a great option for you.  Please contact me to learn more.
